E.ON Drive Infrastructure

E.ON Drive Infrastructure (EDRI ) Poland and Agata SA have begun a partnership

Accelerating the growth of electromobility in Poland requires not only a denser network of public charging stations but also a better experience for EV drivers. Drivers expect charging to be easily accessible and fast. According to a study conducted by Elocity in March 2026, more than half of public charging station users (54%) prefer stations that offer the highest charging power[1]. The reasons are simple: this type of infrastructure allows for a rapid increase in driving range, saves time, and offers a charging speed that home charging simply cannot match.

Highway charging speeds, now available in the city

The collaboration between EDRI and Agata SA, the first results of which will be visible soon, introduces charging solutions based on the highest power output, currently found mainly on highways and expressways. Ultra-fast charging hubs with power ranging from 200 to 400 kW will be installed near Agata showrooms across Poland. Each hub, equipped with two to five stations, will be able to serve four to 10 vehicles simultaneously. The final technical specifications will vary depending on the location and the power available from the grid.

" Agata SA is the ideal partner for us as we build the Polish portion of the pan-European EDRI charging network. The company's experience with its own construction projects has helped us better understand the challenges and constraints we face as an operator building high-power stations in the Polish market and regulatory environment. As a leader in the furniture industry, the Agata chain has ambitious development plans and a nationwide footprint, with stores in almost every major city. Their prime locations allow them to meet the diverse needs of charging customers – both those on the road and those focused on shopping. The company's broad business profile also opens up the prospect of expanding to new locations. Since the start of our cooperation, the initial scope of over 30 locations has already grown to include additional points on our shared map. So this is very much an open-ended, long-term project, " says Jacek Błaszczyński, Managing Director of E.ON Drive Infrastructure (EDRI) Poland.

" We're seeing the market and customer expectations change, with more and more people driving electric vehicles. We know that fast, accessible charging is crucial for them, so we want to offer them this option through our partnership with EDRI Poland. Backed by the experience of the E.ON Group, this partner gives us confidence that an undertaking as ambitious as building a multi-station fast-charging hub will succeed. Each of our showrooms has a large public parking lot, ideal for EV fast-charging infrastructure, making it a convenient spot for drivers who can combine shopping with charging, " comments Wojciech Frysz, Director of Real Estate Management at Agata SA.

High Power Charging needs to accelerate

High Power Charging (HPC) stations, to be installed in the parking lots of Agata showrooms, enable fast charging that can add up to several hundred kilometers of range in just a few to several dozen minutes, depending on the vehicle's technical capabilities.

The development of this type of infrastructure is limited by financial and procedural factors – chiefly very high investment costs, complex approval processes, and, in particular, long waiting times for grid connections. As a result, Polish roads remain persistently under-served by this type of infrastructure, a situation EDRI plans to steadily improve, including through partnerships with Agata SA and other location partners.

According to EIPA data, at the start of June 2026 Poland's public charging network totaled 13,392 charging points, of which only 3,132 offered power equal to or above 100 kW, and only 813 exceeded 200 kW.

" The development of fast-charging infrastructure has been a priority for us since EDRI began operating in Poland. We are steadily building the infrastructure of tomorrow, designed to support, encourage, and ultimately provide a long-term foundation for the shift to electrified transport. This direction has clear advantages, as demonstrated by crises such as the recent blockade of the Gulf of Hormuz and the resulting disruption to fossil fuel availability and prices. Working together with Agata SA, we will help advance high-power electromobility in Poland. I'm pleased to say that we will soon be ready to offer these locations to our customers, whose numbers will grow significantly on the Polish electromobility map in the coming months," concludes Jacek Błaszczyński.
