Electromobility requires comprehensive and customer-friendly charging infrastructure that seamlessly integrates into the everyday lives of electric vehicle drivers. Retail Match GmbH, a subsidiary of the Munich-based ILG Group and property manager of more than 150 retail properties across Germany, and E.ON Drive Infrastructure are launching a partnership to expand publicly accessible charging stations at retail locations nationwide. Nearly 350 charging points will be installed in parking areas managed by Retail Match, with an additional approximately 150 charging points potentially to follow.
“Our retail locations are daily destinations for millions of people. We combine convenient shopping with the charging of electric vehicles – benefiting both customers and tenants at our properties. By integrating charging infrastructure directly into parking areas, we not only create real added value for customers and tenants, but also make an active contribution to the mobility transition. We see ourselves as active shapers of future-proof retail properties. Together with E.ON Drive Infrastructure, we demonstrate that climate protection, economic viability, and customer convenience can go hand in hand,” says Dominic Barg, Authorized Signatory at Retail Match.
Smart Integration into Parking Concepts and Building Technology
Customers can conveniently charge their electric vehicles while doing their weekly grocery shopping. For supermarket operators using properties managed by Retail Match, the comprehensive concept of building, parking area, and charging infrastructure is particularly attractive.
“The publicly accessible charging stations are not only a contribution to clean mobility, but also strengthen the attractiveness of retail locations. A recent E.ON survey* shows that 61 percent of electric vehicle drivers now expect to be able to use charging infrastructure at grocery stores. Retail tenants simultaneously meet this customer demand and their own sustainability targets,” says Ludolf von Maltzan, responsible for the Germany business at E.ON Drive Infrastructure.
All charging points are operated with 100 percent electricity from renewable energy sources and fit seamlessly into the sustainability strategy of Retail Match GmbH. E.ON Drive Infrastructure is responsible for planning, installation, operation, and billing of the charging infrastructure – always with a focus on user-friendliness and state-of-the-art technology.
