As part of the federal Deutschlandnetz initiative, E.ON has put four fast-charging stations into operation in Krumbach, Bavarian Swabia, each equipped with two charging points. Eight electric vehicles can charge simultaneously with up to 400 kilowatts of power. Modern electric cars can therefore be ready for the next stage of their journey in around 20 minutes.
The site is located directly on the B16 (Höllgehau roundabout, corner of Bahnhofsstraße) and is therefore easily accessible both for travelers between the Bavarian Forest and the Allgäu region and for local residents. Within walking distance are restaurants, a supermarket, additional shopping facilities, and sanitary facilities.
Design Module Displays Occupancy Status and Ad-Hoc Charging Prices
“Our Deutschlandnetz site in Krumbach is the first to be equipped with our T-Pole, a T-shaped design module. This not only shows electric vehicle drivers on the access roads where the charging stations are located, but also uses different colored lighting to indicate immediately whether charging bays are available. The T-Pole also integrates a display showing the current kilowatt-hour price for ad-hoc charging. Through these features, we are gaining valuable insights in Krumbach that we will use for future site planning,” says Ludolf von Maltzan, responsible for the Germany business at E.ON Drive Infrastructure.
Dagmar Fehler, CEO and Spokesperson of NOW GmbH: “The Deutschlandnetz is creating a comprehensive, needs-based, and user-friendly charging infrastructure across Germany, and every new charging point makes electromobility more attractive. Anyone traveling with an electric car will soon find an ultra-fast charging station everywhere. The new site in Krumbach is another example of how quickly the expansion of Deutschlandnetz locations is progressing. More than 40 new sites have already been successfully put into operation.”
As at all E.ON Drive Infrastructure charging stations, customers in Krumbach charge using 100 percent electricity from renewable energy sources. In addition, an extra-wide charging bay (3.5 meters) enables barrier-free charging, and a seven-meter-long charging bay allows electric passenger cars with trailers or large electric vans to charge conveniently.
More Than 170 E.ON Fast-Charging Sites for the Deutschlandnetz
Through the Deutschlandnetz, the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV), together with charging station operators, is creating 9,000 additional fast-charging points for electric cars at more than 1,000 locations. The BMDV is investing approximately €2.3 billion in the construction and operation of these sites. They are being developed in rural regions, in cities, and at unmanaged motorway service areas. Additional E.ON sites for the expansion of the Deutschlandnetz are currently under construction.
E.ON supports drivers in switching to sustainable mobility: Not only do electric vehicles charge with 100 percent electricity from renewable sources at public charging stations operated by E.ON Drive Infrastructure, but customers who wish to charge their vehicles at home using green electricity can also choose innovative Home & Drive tariffs in addition to classic green electricity tariffs. E.ON manages the overnight charging process for customers so that it automatically takes place at the optimal time during the night. Customers benefit from a charging bonus of up to €240 per year.
