E.ON’s First Deutschlandnetz Sites Go into Operation in Bavaria

E.ON has put its first two fast-charging sites into operation as part of the Deutschlandnetz. The new charging stations in Bad Königshofen (Lower Franconia) and Rothenburg ob der Tauber (Middle Franconia) mark another milestone in the rapidly growing fast-charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in Germany.

“We are pleased to put twelve new fast-charging points into operation this week. All charging points offer up to 400 kilowatts of power – enough to charge an average electric car for the next leg of a journey in around 20 minutes – naturally using 100 percent renewable electricity,” says Ludolf von Maltzan, responsible for the Germany business at E.ON Drive Infrastructure.

Larger Parking Bays for Accessible Charging and for Electric Vans

At all E.ON Deutschlandnetz sites, at least one particularly wide parking bay is available for accessible charging; at charging locations with at least eight charging points, there is also an extra-long bay that allows charging of electric vans or electric cars with trailers. Charging sessions can be started and paid for using common charging cards and charging apps such as the E.ON Drive Comfort app, or via a credit card terminal at the charging station.

Anyone traveling to Rothenburg ob der Tauber to visit the medieval old town will in future find eight E.ON fast-charging points at Laiblestraße 26 – within walking distance of the historic city wall. Two low-barrier charging options as well as a parking bay for light commercial vehicles are available at this site.

In Bad Königshofen, electric vehicle drivers now have four charging points available, each delivering up to 400 kilowatts of power. These are located at Bamberger Straße 11. A supermarket, a drugstore, and additional shops are located in the immediate vicinity.

Johannes Pallasch, Head and Spokesperson of the National Charging Infrastructure Control Center at NOW GmbH: “The Deutschlandnetz continues to grow with two additional fast-charging parks in Franconia. From now on, electric vehicle drivers have access to ultra-fast Deutschlandnetz charging points in Rothenburg ob der Tauber and in Bad Königshofen. Especially for tourism-oriented regions, a well-developed charging infrastructure is becoming an increasingly important location factor.”

More Than 170 E.ON Fast-Charging Sites for the Deutschlandnetz

Through the Deutschlandnetz, the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV), together with charging station operators, is creating 9,000 additional fast-charging points for electric cars at more than 1,000 locations. They are being developed in rural regions, in cities, and at unmanaged motorway service areas. Additional E.ON sites for the expansion of the Deutschlandnetz are currently under construction.

E.ON supports private customers and businesses in switching to sustainable mobility with a 360° charging offering. This includes charging on the go, wallboxes for home use—also in combination with solar systems—as well as comprehensive solutions for companies.
